Refund policy

Refund & Return Policy — Medici Books

This policy applies to all orders placed online with Medici Books and is written in accordance with the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

1. Your Right to Cancel (Change of Mind)

When you purchase from us online, you have a legal right to cancel your order for any reason.

  • You have 14 days from the day you receive your order to inform us that you wish to cancel.
  • After notifying us, you have another 14 days to return the item to us.
  • This means you may have up to 28 days in total to complete your return, provided you notify us within the first 14 days.

2. Condition of Returned Items

Items must be returned:

  • In a resaleable condition
  • Unused and undamaged
  • With any original packaging where possible

You may inspect the book as you would in a physical shop, but excessive handling that reduces its value may result in a reduced refund.

3. Return Shipping Costs

  • Customers are responsible for the cost of returning items for change-of-mind cancellations.
  • We recommend using a tracked service, as we cannot be responsible for items lost in transit.

4. Refunds

Once we receive the returned item, we will issue a refund within 14 days.

Your refund will include:

  • The full cost of the item
  • The original standard delivery charge (if paid)

Refunds are made to the original payment method.

5. Faulty, Damaged, or Incorrect Items

If your item is:

  • Faulty
  • Damaged in transit
  • Not as described
  • Incorrect

Please contact us within 30 days of receiving the item. In these cases:

  • We will cover return postage costs
  • You are entitled to a full refund, replacement, or repair as appropriate

Your rights in this situation are protected under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

6. Items Exempt from Cancellation

The right to cancel does not apply to:

  • Items that have been personalised or specially ordered for you
  • Sealed items that are not suitable for return once opened (where applicable)

These exceptions will be clearly stated on the product page where relevant.

  • Your order number
  • The item(s) you wish to return
  • Reason for return (optional for cancellations)
